Tuesday Talk – Susan Edmonds
sfBIG VP of Social
I am honored to be writing the Tuesday Talks. sfBig has been part of my foundation since I was on the agency side. But over the past few years, John had asked me to lean in and take on more responsibility and be a change agent for the group.
I have had the pleasure of wearing many hats, from board member to doing Big Talks with Kelly Burke, and hosting the Hal Riney wards. Currently, I am the VP of Social for Sf Big.
For those that know me in both a personal and professional capacity, I don’t shy away from an industry event, live sports, good party, or hosting a wine and cheese tasting. The nucleus of this is, I love the personal connection that comes along with events. Learning from people and learning about their personal lives, their latest work challenges or innovations. I authentically find people fascinating. I probably should have gone into the Sociology field. But alas I found marketing and advertising, which let’s face it – kind of are, the same thing.
As Covid happened, several people found it amazing that they didn’t have to have that personal interaction and thrived, and others didn’t and literally created an even out of heading to the Target or Safeway. Now that the world is opening up and events are starting back up again, I have been extremely fortunate to go to the industry conferences. Where I have been able to partake in knowledge sharing and catch up with colleagues and friends that I legitimately haven’t seen since Christmas of 2019. In this period, people have had babies, lost loved ones, changed jobs, gotten married, and so many live events have happened. But I am over the moon excited that events are coming back! Sports, Industry, weddings you name it they are back baby. But what I am most excited about is SF Big’s event calendar. SF Big is such a special group and over the years I have met and made some great friends.
Starting this June the return of the Happy Hour will be back! Then followed by Content After Dark’s, SF Big Golf Tournament, and let’s not forget the Hal Riney Awards to name a few that are on the docket. I hope you all will come out and join us, I look forward to connecting with old and new friends. Additionally, I hope you spread the word and extend the invite to your colleagues to support a long-lasting ad club and subscribe to our email list to keep up to date. If you would like to partner, sponsor, join the board, have suggestions on event topics, or speaking engagements or if you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]. We are only as great as the sum of our parts. I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and a wonderful week ahead. As I share my favorite Durhanism it reminds me of the impact that John had on me personally in the short time that I knew him.
Susan’s Favorite Durhamism
2831 – Adventures are things that happen that aren’t supposed to happen. Adventure is what happens when you just did something stupid. Adventure may sometimes hurt, but monotony will kill you. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
