Tuesday Talk with Jen Conrick

Hi, I am Jen Conrick – I head up the Brand Committee here at sfBig and have been a part of our community since I moved to San Francisco in late 2017. I really wanted to integrate myself into the Bay Area market. Is it a surprise to any of you that I was introduced to John Durham? It shouldn’t be. I was lucky to have met him and understand what a truly wonderful connector/mentor and friend he was to everyone he met. I wanted to get involved.
Fast forward 4+ years and we have a huge hole in sfBIG that is left with John’s passing, and I want to help. I know that John Durham is the reason so many of us are here, the reason we joined, the reason we stayed and the reason we want to carry on. I personally want to keep John’s vision alive and continue to drive collaboration, learning and community in the Bay Area for our industry. While I was not sure what I could add, I wanted to be involved. I am now heading up the “Brand” team for SF Big but it is a bit intimidating. the sfBig Brand Committee – Kris Thoren, Sara Mascall and myself want to take the steps to solidify this vision, one John was passionate about, not only today but for many years to come.
When we started the process of redefining the sfBIG brand and our new Mission statement, we realized, for the most part, they were still relevant and appropriate. We want to revive sfBIG and we need to activate now to keep sfBIG as a resource for our Bay Area Community. We need each and every one of you. The Bay Area has been hit hard by Covid , impacting jobs, families and many of the business we all are a part of. We want to keep sfBIG pumping ideas, fueling collaboration and provide a place for everyone whether you are an industry veteran, or a budding professional.
We want a place where we can learn together as advertising and technology change constantly. We want a place for mentorship, a place for advice, a place for learning and more than anything we want what John Durham would want to see us all together helping one another.
With that, I present to you our Relaunch Mission Statement:
Re-launch sfBIG as the Bay Area community of media, technology, marketing, and creative professionals focused on providing insightful education and networking opportunities with a focus on dialogue, diverse thoughts and perspectives.
Jennifer’s Favorite Durhamism

2392 – This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everbody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anyone could have.
