Meet Kris Thoren

What human quality do you most admire and also most deplore?

Most Admired – Accountability.  Most Deplored – Blame. We should all own up to our mistakes, they’re inevitable.  The less time spent pointing fingers, the more time spent refocusing on success.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Purchasing products that I don’t need but think I do.  I do enjoy the daily Amazon Delivery.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

A happy and healthy family.  Fortunately, that is the case at the moment, but these days we are all learning how fleeting that can be.

What is the app you wish someone would invent?

One that warns you of a sudden health crisis.   I lost 3 good friends to Heart Attacks last year and they all happened very suddenly. They were all in great shape and had no obvious signs that the end was imminent.

In this short time, any tips from working from home

Set a routine and stick to it.  Get up the same time you would as if you were commuting, shower up and put on a nice shirt.   If you wear a hat, your colleagues know you didn’t shower :).  Get your cup of coffee or breakfast then put your head down and get to work (just like the office).  Also, set up calls as best you can in advance so you have a framework of a schedule built for the day.  Finally, if you have kids, try to find a place in your house that has a door so you can tell them you’re going to work.

What is the most fun in your job?

Working with really good people, enjoy both their company and expertise. Also educating clients and agencies on the benefits of the Podcast space as well as learning about their customers.   It’s very similar to when digital was in its early days and we became “subject matter experts” in the space.

Any secret places/hang out/food in the Bay Area that you can clue us in on?

One of my favorites in SF is Trattoria Contadina.  A great authentic Italian restaurant in North Beach.  I’ve been going there for more years than I want to admit and it’s always a great meal, great service, and great fun.
