Meet Mike Denzler

What human quality do you most admire and also most deplore?

I most admire patience. It’s not something I’ve excelled at practicing all my life but I have learned the value of it and constantly work to improve. Having kids has definitely been a help as they require the utmost! What do I deplore? Entitlement.

What is your guiltiest pleasure? 

I’d have to say Vanderpump Rules on Bravo. I don’t know why but I just can’t stop watching.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? 

Open on a group of family and friends – in a yard, on a beach, on a mountain – anywhere really. Sun is shining. Games and instruments are being played. Cups are full. Laughter can be heard for miles and miles. Doing so as much as if physically possible these days and look forward to when it can be done more broadly.

What is the app you wish someone would invent? 

I need you to sign a NDA before I can share that.

In this short time, any tips from working from home? 

I think it’s hard to give tips in a situation like this because everyone’s personal situation is so very unique and so little is in our control. So I guess it points back to patience – again easier said than done. But be patient with your family that’s around you and might be a distraction at times. Be patient with technology that might not always work when you need it. Be patient with colleagues who aren’t as accessible or responsive as you want – they might be in a tougher spot than you know. And on the flip side, take advantage of the fact that you are surrounded by your family, you don’t have to commute, and in a way, we’re all learning something new about ourselves.

What is the most fun in your job? 

For someone who is chasing down 50, I love how working at twitch keeps me feeling young and connected to a different generation. But of course, the old cliche holds true for me – it’s the people I get to work with everyday that is the most fun. It’s hard not being around them physically all the time.

Any secret places/hang out/food in the Bay Area that you can clue us in on? 

Living out by the ocean has been such an asset lately. Even just looking out on the horizon creates a sense of much-needed freedom. So if you’re in SF, make your way west as far as you can and enjoy.
