Tuesday Talk with Kelly Burke

Back to Blog

We had an amazing Summer Soirée last Thursday! It was a lovely warm evening, we had a great crowd, the wine was pouring, everyone was chatting, it was a perfect event all around. Thanks to everyone who showed up to the event, we were so happy to see you. And a huge thanks to our Soirée sponsor, Dailymotion!

Honestly, my favorite part of the evening was just being able to see everyone in person. What a great feeling to catch up with those I knew as well as to meet and get to know new folks. There was a lot of laughs (ask someone about the seagull incident) and everyone left with smiles on their faces Fun social events are one of the best perks of our industry and they have been terribly missed over the past couple years. With the majority of the Bay Area organizations working from home, we have to figure out ways to create a professional culture and encourage social outings. sfBIG to the rescue! We are planning a lot of great events for the rest of the year. The website will be updated soon with a sneak peek of events on the horizon. Here are some things to look forward to: More happy hours, our Breakfast Content Series will kick off in Q3, Content After Dark events, dinners, our annual sfBIG Golf Tournament, and our BIG Stars Gala. We are working with our sponsors to get dates set, themes solidified, and venues booked. We’d love to get input from you on content topics that are of interest, what kind of events you’d like to see this year, or anything else.

Please feel free to contact me personally with ideas, questions, opinions, and recommendations at [email protected]

One last shout out to my executive team, Luke Burke and Susan Edmonds, as well as the Board of Directors. Our successes will continue as a result of our team efforts… and we have a great team!

Kelly’s Favorite Durhamism

2609 – There is little success where there is little laughter. When people are laughing, they’re generally not killing each other. You can’t deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants.
